5. Mai 1934: Dr. Engelbert Dollfuß (1892-1934), Chancellor. In March 1933 he declared the "self-exclusion of the parliament" and founded the "Fatherland Front". Created the "Ständestaat auf authorärer Grundlage" in 1934 on the basis of the May Constitution and was murdered on 25 July 1934 (July coup) by a member of the SS "Militär"-Standarte 89.

15. Dezember 1950: Dr. Karl Renner (1870-1950), Federal President. His wife Luise, née Stoisits, came from Güssing. He was State Chancellor of the 1st Republic, contributed significantly to the annexation of Burgenland to Austria and is also known as the "Father of Burgenland".

24. Mai 1955: Medizinalrat Dr.Med. Hans Unger (9. Mai 1877 - 29. Dez. 1971), 1918 to 1956 physician in Güssing, head of the department for internal medicine and head of the infection department of the hospital KH Güssing. Medical officer from 1925 - 1933 and 1945 - 1956.

31. März 1980: Theodor Kery (* 24. Juli 1918 in Mannersdorf an der Rabnitz, Österreich-Ungarn; † 9. Mai 2010 in Kobersdorf, Burgenland), Governor. Spent part of his childhood in Güssing. Numerous merits for Güssing.

31. März 1980: DDr. Rudolf Grohotolsky (* 9. August 1922 in Tobaj, Bezirk Güssing, Burgenland; † 16. August 2013), State Council. Due to his connection to Güssing and his functions as municipal advisor of the Bgld. State Government, responsible department head of the economic development fund and as a fire department advisor he has particularly promoted Güssing. In particular, he is to be thanked for the rapid equipping of the town fire brigade with the most modern equipment.

11. Oktober 1983: Geistlicher Rat Pater Roman Hasenhütl (geboren 1913-1998), Guardian, parson, vicar, religion teacher, Leader of the Bible study groups for women, committed staff in the deanery. Holper was a member of the Bundesrat from 1960 to 1964 and a member of the Burgenland Parliament from 1966 to 1977. Holper attended the elementary school Güssing from 1925 to 1929 and afterwards the secondary school Güssing until 1933. Subsequently, he learned the profession of a rope maker until 1936 and passed the examination for the master craftsman's diploma in 1947. Before that he had served in the Wehrmacht from 1939 to 1944 and returned seriously wounded in October 1944. From 1947 to 1966 he worked as a master ropemaker, from 1966 to 1976 he was a businessman. From 1950 to 1953 Holper was a municipal councilor and vice mayor of Güssing, then served as mayor from 1953 to 1979. He also represented the ÖVP Burgenland from 7 December 1960 to 26 May 1964 as a member of the Federal Council and was subsequently a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 27 April 1966 to 27 October 1977. 1993 at the anniversary "20 years city of Güssing": Primarius Dr. Alois Kroiss. (* 1911 - † 1999) An important personality of the city, the distinguished Primarius, Dr. Alois Kroiss, died at the age of 88. A native of lllmitz, he received his doctorate in 1937. works in the hospitals of Güssing, Oberwart, Neunkirchen and Vienna. Already in 1946 he came to Güssing, where he worked for 30 years until his retirement when Primarius worked at the hospital. Dr. Kroiss was also honorary citizen of the city of Güssing (Text: Burgenländische Gemeinschaft 9+10/1999).

Prof. Paul Hajszanyi (* 11.10.1919 - † 16.5.1998), Teacher and scientists. After the war he taught first at the elementary school, then at the secondary school in Güssing, where he was appointed headmaster in 1976. Only one year later a traffic accident made him unfit for service, but his spirit remained unbroken. He wrote numerous articles and scientific contributions on the history of Güssing and the Pannonian area. His most famous work is the "Bilder-Chronik Güssing, 1870-1970", an excellent book with almost 650 pages. He was awarded the title "Professor" and was also an honorary citizen of Güssing. His father Johann Hajszanyi was a member of the first Burgenland parliament from 1922-27.

OAR Ludwig Krammer, former army officer and longtime mayor of Güssing († 21. Juni 2021). Former mayor Ludwig Krammer was born in Rauchwart and grew up in Glasing/Sankohaz. He was a member of the municipal council of Güssing from November 26, 1950, the day of the first free municipal council after the Second World War, until 1992, including the last twelve years as mayor.

Prof. Walter (Stefan Maria) Franz (* Linz, 17.01.1936 - † 11.04.2024), founded the music days and was also their musical director, he directed the city choir and the music school for decades. Over 50 years "Güssing Music Days", countless concerts with the Güssing City Choir, the Savaria Symphony Orchestra and many other national and international musicians. He was made an honorary citizen of Güssing on January 18, 1996.
